4 PEAKS IN 48 HOURS

A-Z CHILDREN’S CHARITY 4 PEAKS IN 48 HOURS CHALLENGE 2007.

- 1 down, 3 to go!

THE A-Z CHILDREN’S CHARITY 4 PEAKS WEEKEND RAISED OVER €14,000!!

Thank you so much to all the challengers for raising this money and for making the weekend a great success.

A-Z Children’s Charity would especially like to thank J.P. Canning, the organiser of the challenge for getting everybody up and down each of the four mountains safely and within the 48 hours time limit!

This was the first time A-Z organised this event, which made it all the more tricky for JP. But he pulled it off brilliantly!

- Our Leader, J.P Canning

We also could not have done it without the eleventh hour intervention of the Air Corps, who brought the slowest eight challengers from Mweelrea in Co. Mayo to Slieve Donard in Co. Down by helicopter.

A-Z would especially like to thank the Pilot, Commandant Shane Bonner, his Co-Pilot Lieutenant Jimmy O Reilly and flight Sergeant Mick Corcoran for a memorable flight! Thank you also to Commandant Sean Clancy, Stephen White and Elaine who helped organise the helicopter.

- Air Corps to the rescue!

Without your help I am sure we would not have completed Slieve Donard in time. The helicopter ride gave us a 5-hour advantage over the fast group who only arrived at Slieve Donard at 18.50. What a determined group they turned out to be! They knew they only had around two and a half hours to get up and down before nightfall- THEY DID IT IN 2hrs 20 minutes!! Amazing!

A-Z Children’s Charity would also like to thank the following, whose contribution provided both encouragement and energy for all the challengers: -

Sallyanne Cooney and Lisa Real of The Gleeson Group who donated a gallon of Tipperary Spring Water.

Finola Iredale of Cadbury’s Ireland for donating a shop full of chocolate.

Caitriona and the staff of Sea View Farm Produce for donating an orchard of fruits.

Michelle Ryan who cooked up delicious stews for the challengers for when they came down off the mountains

Donagh Richardson for being the support driver, chef and overall nice guy!

Killian O Brien for guiding and motivating us on the mountains.

- The whole team together!

A–Z Children’s Charity Annual Black Tie Ball was a great sucess!

Thanks to all the St. Patricks Weekend Cyclists. Over €12,000 raised so far!
