Dublin to Cork Cycle in 48hrs

13-15 March. A fun cycle in leprechaun suits! This event is for anybody who is able to cycle a bicycle! We cycle approximately 60 miles a day and we do not cycle fast! I would though recommend that you get good rain gear because when it rained last year, it poured!
You are required to raise a minimum of €500. A-Z Children's charity will provide you with sponsorship cards and letters etc. to help you achieve this amount.

4 Peaks Challenge

Climb the 4 highest peaks in each of the 4 provinces of Ireland in 48 hours. 2-5 May (May Bank Holiday Weekend). This is a unique event which includes a helicopter ride from Mweelrea in County Mayo to Slieve Donard in County Down. A good level of fitness is necessary. We will be doing 4 training hikes on each of the four mountains. This is great preparation and also a chance to meet the other adventurers!
You are required to raise a minimum of €1500. A-Z Children's Charity will provide you with transport, hot food, chocolate, fruit, tea and coffee straight off the mountain- what more do you need!

Kilimanjaro trek.

A-Z Children's Charity has a 100% success rate in getting its participants up the "roof of Africa". Why come with us? We work with a local tour operator, therefore we are the cheapest. 100% of the funds you raise goes directly to the charity. We can organise any other trips you might want to do before the greatest experience of a lifetime. We can organise safaris or trips to Zanzibar.

Fran Mitchell Memorial Trophy

The second installment of the annual 'Fran Mitchell Memorial Trophy' was held on Sunday the 5th of August in Greystones Rugby Club in awful conditions. The players from the 16 teams involved along with many supporters braved the torrential rain to attend the event.

The day ended up a great success with Kilroy Silk winning the Fran Mitchell Memorial Cup and Turvs Sanfrancisco winning the Shield event.

football team

All in all over EUR9000 was raised through generous sponsorship from local businesses, team entrance fees and donations from people who attended the event.

A big thank you to all involved, From Joe Mitchell.

football match

All the money raised from this tournament is to be used for third level education for the vulnerable children on The A-Z Children's Charity Sponsorship Programme. The fund is to be named the 'Fran Mitchell Third Level Scholarship Fund' after Fran football matchMitchell who tragically died on the 27th July 2005 in a car accident. Fran was a great friend to myself and the charity. Fran and his family all have children on the sponsorship programme and I know Fran would be delighted to know that he is enabling these children, who all had a bleak future before A-Z Children's Charity intervened, to go to university.

I would like to thank Joe Mitchell, The Mitchell family and all those who supported The Fran Mitchell Memorial Cup.

Sincerely,

Brian Iredale (Director, A-Z Children's Charity)

Clowns Without Borders

Clowns Without Borders, a non profit organisation from Ireland were hosted at the A-Z Children's Charity Office on Saturday, the 24th November.

Clowns Without Boarders are touring parts of Uganda for one month and they gave A-Z the privalege of hosting them for their first performance. Approximately 500 Children from the 10 schools the Charity works with were treated to an excellent evening of entertainment.

Musoke, The Director Of Little Diamonds Primary School talked of his delight on the kids of his school witnessing such an event. "We can not afford to make parties for our school children, we are grateful that A-Z is able to organise such events where children can have entertainment in such a unique way, and to have Irish people performing is a great opportunity for the kids".

"It is definitely a great day for the kids, there are so many kids this is our first performance in Uganda on this trip and I must say this made us a bit nervous," said Petra, one of the Clowns.
