The A–Z Children’s Charity Library

Through its sponsorship programme, A–Z CC saw that there was no reading culture in Uganda. This was due to many factors, the main one being a lack of reading materials. Through its partnership with St. Brigid’s Boys National School, Killester it collected and shipped over 1.56 tonnes of children’s books to Uganda. A library was then built with the assistance of the INTO. This is the first exclusive Children’s Community Library in Uganda. 6 primary schools from Nansana now use the library. Pupils from each school come to the library once a week with a teacher. All primary school children can access age appropriate reading material.

Impact

Over 500 children use the library per week and nearly 100 children use the library on the weekends.

Thank you to the INTO (Irish Nurses Teachers Organisation) for your continued support.
