St. Brigid's Relay Race

On Thursday, 26th April 2007, St. Brigid’s BNS held their fourth annual relay race in aid of A-Z.
Mr. Finn’s and Mrs. Cullen’s classes got sponsorship from family and friends and were divided into 6 teams. They were joined on their teams by a representative from every other class in the school and also by a guest runner.
The whole school came out to watch and there was great excitement. The Blue team - captained by Pat Caulfield (St. Brigid’s) - won the overall race. After a lap of honour from all teams, all competitors got a medal and a goody bag.
A very big thank you to all our guest runners: Niall O’Driscoll(A-Z), Brian Iredale(A-Z), Pat Caulfield(St. Brigid’s), Willie Coogan(St. Brigid’s), John Dermody(St. Brigid’s) and last - but by no means least - Mr. Pat Hooper who competed in the 1980 Olympic Games in the marathon and who gave us sponsorship to cover the cost of the medals.
Another very big thank you to the teachers, staff, pupils, families and friends of St. Brigid’s. Between a cake sale, the race sponsorship and a no-uniform day (held on race day), they raised just over €2500.
Go raibh mile maith agaibh.
